Business Area

At Empire Today, our Empire for Business (E4B) Sales & Operations team, handles the business to business (B2B) sales, and in coordination with the Empire Residential team, the installation of residential and commercial flooring products to businesses ranging from small offices, property managers, education / government, large business chains, hospitality, healthcare, and restoration.


The individual will work with the Commercial Market Manager to ensure the achievement of the market s commercial business financial and customer objectives. This individual will be responsible for the disposition and management of Commercial media and self-generated leads to ensure customers are handled by qualified commercial sales representatives (1099 and W-2) and will monitor the performance of markets staffed exclusively by sales contractors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish sales objective with the Commercial Market Manager to support the attainment of the market revenue and profit objectives.
  • Prepare monthly sales and lead forecasts and the W-2 and sales contractor staffing requirements necessary to achieve them.
  • Communicate daily (email, voice) with all market sales personnel to ensure lead management process is implemented and to build a cohesive an effective sales team.
  • Review, allocate and disposition in-bound commercial sales leads from phone, web and referrals to the best-fit sales resource and ensure all lead activity is reflected within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Assist in the selection process, training and management of contracted commercial sales representatives as and when necessary.
  • Work with call center operations to maximize lead creation and consistency.
  • Review sales contractor turnover data to troubleshoot issues and resolve as necessary.
  • Ensure an effective follow system is in place for all commercial lead categories: unsold, cancellations, rescheduled, etc.
  • As opportunity exists, develop local account opportunities into regional and national accounts, participating with Commercial Business representatives to maximize existing infrastructure, including management and sales teams, to grow commercial sales, and secure information on product needs and customer specifications.
  • Develop tactical sales plan, metrics and associated budget for the commercial business within the market, and effectively communicate progress and resource needs to the Commercial Market Manager.
  • Use strong analytical skills and market knowledge to yield the highest potential returns.
  • Assist in the development of sales incentive plans and sales contests to drive market sales performance.
  • Effectively organizes, prioritizes and manages multiple projects.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • HS Diploma/GED, Bachelor s degree in Sales/Marketing or general business is preferred
  • 3+ years commercial sales experience, preferably in the floor covering industry .
  • Ideal candidate will have both dealer and direct B2B sales experience.
  • Proven experience developing and executing sales plans built on targeted strategies.
  • Experience leveraging existing customer and partner relationships and experience developing and maintaining relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or implementing sales training and direct sales management in floor covering industry.
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various management levels.
  • Computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Flexibility in a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter and to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and delegate.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and create interim solutions until permanent tool/process is in place.
  • Ability to run a disciplined and structured environment.
  • Strong commitment to quality service.
  • Highly motivated with a sense of urgency.

Physical Abilities Required

  • Approximately 70% of the time will be in an office/cubicle setting. The noise level ranges from moderate to high with remaining balance of time traveling to customer locations.
